Listen close; the wild warriors beckon you
Sharpen your minds and get your body ready for the ultimate kilometer of your life — the “Killermeter”. With a strong claim to being the toughest kilometer in the world of obstacle course racing, the Killermeter constitutes over 15 obstacles spread over a kilometer distance.
And striving to make this a grand success are the Wild Warriors headed by a core team which consists of Somdev Devvarman, Vikram Menon, Arun Karthik and Varun Gunaseelan all of whom are well known athletes or sportsmen in their own field of sports. With affiliations from the World OCR Federation and the Indian Federation of Adventure Sports and Racing, the Wild Warriors have conducted OCR events in Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, New Delhi and Nepal.
They also hold a special initiative called “Life is a ball” which financially supports children from orphanages to participate in organised sports as most of the children from this background miss out on their chances due to lack of support. With a part of their profit going to this initiative of social responsibility, the Wild Warriors have helped thousands of children in actively participating in organised sports throughout India.
The Killermeter differentiates itself from the other prominent races by giving equal importance to running, upper body strength and overcoming obstacles. And apparently the other brands which conduct OCRs give advantage to either one of these categorical divisions.
The Wild Warriors hold a special motive of building a fitness community in the country through their races. They have witnessed amputees, war veterans and people 70 years participating in the races to enjoy them. The “Tribe” section, where the non-contenders run and encourage people to participate as groups and help each other complete obstacles. And as usual the contenders section will be ready to find the fittest person of the race.
Another major goal behind these races are that OCR could become an Olympic event in the coming years and so these races conducted nationally will ensure that India is ready to jump over any obstacle that stand in the way. Save the date - February 3 - and make yourselves ready to feel the rush of adrenaline coursing through your veins.
