Meghan Markle has worn UK designers on just 2 out of her 22 public appearances

The Duchess of Sussex has mostly been seen in North American designs.

Meghan Markle is not only watched for being a new member of the British royal family, but for her unique style.

Her trademark look - neutral tones and figure-hugging cuts - is recognisable instantly.

The Duchess of Sussex has worn beautiful items of clothes from famous fashion houses from around the world like Prada, Dior and Givenchy, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta.

However, what is also striking is what she doesn't wear. Since her marriage to Prince Harry, which was four months ago, many have noticed out of the 22 outfits she has worn for public appearances, she has only worn two dresses from British labels, the Daily Mail reported.

Why? Some believe it is because of the friends in the fashion industry she already established long before she joined the royal family.

The American had her own lifestyle blog (The Tig) and had been living in Toronto while filming the TV series Suits. This could be one of the reasons she favours Canadian fashion brands like House of Nonie and Judith & Charles.

Another reason could be her close friendship with Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney. While Meghan doesn't have an official stylist, Jessica could be performing that role for her.

Many hope that she champions UK designers in the future.
