Now, News Corp dances to Jimikki dance

Profit from video's circulation to be used for charity.

KOCHI: Students and teachers of Indian School of Commerce at Nirmal Infopark, Kakkanad, are on their way to conquering social media worldwide with a Jimikki Kammal dance video performed by them on their campus during the Onam holidays. The dance video based on the song Jimikki Kammal, a peppy track from the Mohanlal-starrer Velipadinte Pusthakam, had gone viral with a viewership of over 1.30 crore in several countries when it was uploaded. Now, US-based media group — News Corporation — has entered into a pact with the UK-based International Skill Development Corporation Limited (ISDC), that promotes and manages Indian School of Commerce, to increase the video circulation on the social media.

The entire income out of this will be used for charity. The dance by the students and led by faculty members Anna George and Sheril G. Kadavath to the tune of the song won admiration from several eminent personalities, including American TV show host Jimmy Kimmel. ISDC directors Venu-gopal V. Menon and T.N. Prasad said that the ISDC decided to use the entertainment showpiece on social media for charity and corporate social responsibility initiatives of the organisation. News Corporation will promote the trendy video through its mass entertainment subsidiary ‘Storyful’ in leading on-line platforms and TV channels across the world. The agreement will facilitate big media companies across the world to use the video directly in news frames and entertainment shows on TV Channels in America, Europe and Asia.
