Unlike the past, many graduates believe that a break before pursuing a Master's degree is not the ideal decision.

Taking on a Masters course is the most obvious choice for new degree holders. However youngsters now prefer to be cautious about where they should invest their talents and measure their options. Recent graduates in the city talk about their plans as their careers begin to take shape. There is an understanding
that coming back to pursue a Masters degree after taking a break may not be an ideal plan.

Minal Malli, a media studies graduate plans to pursue journalism. “I decided to not take a gap year and be done with my post graduation. I want to finish studying as soon as possible and then concentrate on my work” For some youngsters, having been in college gives them an idea of where they want to be later on in their lives. Kevin Daniel, a physics graduate knew that Science was his passion. “I am glad that I got into Masters right away. I know that if I had started working I would not have wanted to continue studying. Sharnya Govindraj an English Literature graduate says, “Since I’m into journalism and will be working, I have chosen to pursue MA English Literature in correspondence, as it will boost my career”. Uncertainty about which industry they could be interested in and do potentially well is the big question for some new graduates. Adam Khan, a psychology graduate says, “I am figuring out which field I want to be a part off. I like to spend the time I have now mostly travelling or reading Pursuing a post graduation course is not very important to me personally”.

There is an inevitable pressure to finish studying or get a job. Anna Pauly, a management student plans to focus on her job before she begins her MBA. “There is no pressure as my parents are aware that I will do my MBA later on and they are okay with it”. Shawn an English literature graduate and passionate photographer knows that his active involvement in the family business and interest in Photography assures his parents that he will be doing well.As Adam says, “Parents understand the stage that we are at, but they do worry because that is what parents do.”Young graduates aim to keep being productive and work towards their possible goals.
