India is a land known for its rich culture and heritage. We have more than a dozen different languages that are officially recognised by the Indian constitution apart from the hundreds of local dialects and tribal sub-cultures. Unfortunately, we still have many ignorant people in our country that hold prejudices against regions such as North East India and often ask ridiculous questions to fellow Indians who hail from there.
This video by Being Indian aims to highlight some of the most stupid and even offensive questions that people from North East India are constantly bombarded with. From racial slurs to insensitive comments about eating pet dogs, North-Easterners reveal ‘jokes’ made at their expense that have caused them deep discomfort.
Let us hope that this video can help spread awareness and discourages people from making such prejudiced remarks in the future.
