Video: Singer Atif Aslam stops concert to save woman from eve teaser

Karachi: Shocking crimes against women have been reported at an alarming rate across the subcontinent for a while now and the situation doesn’t seem to improve as women are raped, fall victim to acid attacks or honour killings or are at least harassed in public places everyday.

In the wake of honour killings in Pakistan and the horrifying mass molestation in Bengaluru, politicians have indulged in victim blaming but some media personalities have stood up for women’s rights, and doing his bit for fighting crimes against women is Atif Aslam.

In an act which has created a buzz on the social media, the singer stopped singing midway in a concert in Karachi to reprimand men harassing a girl in the crowd and schooled them as he got security to save the girl by getting her on the stage.

A clip of this incident has been doing the rounds on the internet as people praised Atif Aslam for taking a very important step to raise awareness in the society about the responsibility to support women to battle such blatant harassment.
