Couple's 'infertility announcements' will leave you in splits
Pregnancy announcements are beautiful and it also gives joy to you and your family. However, a couple has come up with a creative idea and has given pregnancy announcement a little twist with their humorous “infertility announcements.”
Spencer and Whitney Blake after struggling to conceive for about four years decided to focus on growing their family through adoption.
Now the couple has two amazing sons. The couple decide to share their “infertility announcements” in honor of Infertility Awareness Week.
The aim of this was to comfort the people who are going through what once Blakes have faced.
Spencer and I decided to share a few silly infertility announcements that we made specifically for IAW (obviously these weren't actually used to announce anything, just so we're clear here). Since humor is one of our coping mechanisms, we thought we'd use that to hop on the creative announcement bandwagon in our own infertile way. Of course, we're not suggesting infertile people announce their deepest struggle with a silly meme. Nor are we making fun of pregnant people. We've just found that laughing at our problems sometimes makes them feel smaller, and couldn't resist the chance to poke fun at infertility," Whitney Blake wrote on the blog.
“We were on a road trip, and our conversation turned to infertility and how pregnancy announcements can sometimes be hard for people like us to read/hear, even when we’re legitimately happy for the people. We started thinking it would be funny to create our own infertile equivalents. Humor has always been one of our coping mechanisms,” the Blakes told The Huffington Post.
The couple created a hilarious series of infertility announcement and posted it on their blog.
All the announcement on the blog has been posted with this disclaimer:
We are the happy parents of two little boys who joined our family through the miracle of adoption after we had struggled for several years with infertility. Though the infertility is still there, the struggle is mostly not. What used to be such a consuming, challenging part of our life is now usually more of a passing thought. We are so grateful to be parents, but we have not forgotten how lonely and horrible infertility can feel, which is why we thought we'd create something to connect with others who are going through what we went through."
