Trekking in forests is risky
I started trekking two years ago and I did thorough research as to which group I should go with. I came across Hyderabad Adventure and trekkers club during a meet up and by the way the organiser Dheeraj explained how he managed situations, I knew I would be in best hands if I went with them.
Dheeraj talked about a time when they had pitched their tents to camp for the night in a forest when it suddenly started pouring cats and dogs. He made sure that all the guests were first on higher ground. To do this, they had to cross a stream to get to the other side. There were people who didn’t know how to swim too, and he had to make them cross safely. It was this story that convinced me that it was this group that I would be trusting.
I was fully aware that there is a certain amount of risk in trekking in a forest. Before each trek, they make sure that they teach their guests basic first aid.
A person should be well aware of their surroundings while trekking. Get to know what kind of wild animals one may come across like snakes, etc., and take proper precautions. People should also make sure that the campfire is completely put off before trekking back.
I travel alone but always prefer to trek with a group which is lead by trained professionals.
