Today, we are reminded of George Washington’s quote, ‘There is no way that I would be the person that I am today without the sacrifice, motivation, and love from my mother’. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, we spoke to some mothers and their daughters about what they’ve learned from each other.
A definite Achiever
Brahmani says she’s a proud daughter, but I’m an even prouder mother! She works more than how much a guy would, and as an entrepreneur, she is passionate about her motto — ‘Health and Happiness’. She’s a philanthropist, mother, daughter and a sister. I wanted her to achieve everything I missed out on, and she’s gone out there and done much more.

Made us Proud
Being a mother is the greatest achievement of my life. I am really proud of my son, Pullela Gopichand, the Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton team. All the hard work that he has put in since childhood has borne fruit. While growing up, he would tell us that he is going to make us proud one day.

My role as a mother has been the most important and fulfilling facet of my pluralistic identity. While I am, obviously, very proud of my children’s varied accomplishments, (Ulrika Krishnamurti is an upcoming actor in the UK and Aria is a stylist/blogger/fashion consultant in Hyderabad), I am most rewarded by who they have become — confident, kind, principled and hardworking women of substance. It fascinates me that at this juncture in my life, there is so much that I learn from them.
