Says a manager Mohammed in the gift shop, “We are getting a lot of calls, mostly from youngsters for these balloons. We have helium filled balloons that are of superior quality and have a longer life span of almost seven days.” The rate starts from Rs 599 without helium and depending on the number of balloons, the design and whether you want it helium filled, the rates start from Rs 999. Mohammed informs that most of the youngsters do not mind coming over to the outlets or collection centres to pick up their love balloons and for those who want it delivered within city limits, that too can be arranged at an extra cost.
From the ‘heights’ of love to terra firma. For those whose beloveds have a sweet tooth, there are a multitude of options in baked goodies. Cupcakes and cakes top the list. Milna Boney who runs a cake shop in Kochi says, “I get a lot of orders a day prior to Valentine’s Day and it is mostly from students. Since money is an issue and it would be just for two people, cup cakes are a hot favourite along with one kilo cakes. Vanilla, Strawberry, Butterscotch cupcakes or those with icing in the shape of teddy bears, hearts and roses are what I get to do a lot.”
