No 'Bangalore Literature Festival' for Chetan Bhagat
Author Chetan Bhagat, who has just released his new book, Girl in Room 105 has dropped out of the prestigious the Bangalore Literature Festival that takes place in the city on October 27 and 28.
This comes as no surprise, given the huge critical outpouring Chetan has received after instances of him propositioning journos, hit the media as part of the #metoo campaign.
While the BLT organisers had not officially announced the author’s name, he has been a hot favourite and his participation was a given, as he had his new book to promote. But he has rather weakly claimed to being occupied with other events, so has apparently expressed his inability to attend this event. When we reached out to him, via his PR, we were politely told that “Chetan won’t comment on the controversy or the Lit Fest.”
In the recent past, the prolific writer been accused of sending inappropriate messages to various women. According to a source close to the organisers, despite the allegations Chetan was not dis-invited from the event and that he will be allowed to put forth his statement and address the allegations.
