Twitter explodes with jokes after Gurgaon gets renamed to Gurugram'
It’s been hardly 24 hours since the Haryana government changed the name of Gurgaon city to ‘Gurugram’ and Mewat to ‘Nuh’. Obviously, people on social media are having a field day with this sudden and unexpected announcement by cracking some really hilarious jokes about it.
For those who don’t know, Gurugram is said to be the place’s historical name. According to legend, some of the villages in the area were gifted by the Pandavas and Kauravas to Guru Dronacharya from the ancient epic Mahabharata. A Harayana government spokesman was even quoted saying, “Haryana is a historic land of the Bhagwad Gita and Gurgaon (now Gurugram) has been a centre of learning.”
