Video: Baby monkey crying over its dead mother will break your heart
Mourning over the loss of a loved one is not an exclusively human emotion. A baby monkey that was found weeping over the lifeless body of its mother after she was killed in a traffic accident in South India has moved many people on the internet.
The older monkey had died after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road near the village of Elanthur on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka National highway. When the baby monkey witnessed the accident, it rushed to its mother’s side. Witnesses recorded the baby clutching its mother’s face and sobbing uncontrollably.
The police were later able to separate the young monkey from its mother. It later followed the villagers who went on to cremate the mother’s body.
