Renewed Hopes!

The TRS' landslide victory had the city's literati, glitterati and high profile personalities singing its praise.

A number of industry experts feel that further focus on projects such as better support for artists, in the form of cultural and performing arts centres, and the hospitality industry, will further cement the TRS’ position in the future

‘Telangana will be India’s number one state’
TRS’s win is a resounding reflection of the progress Telangana has made in the last four years. Impeccable governance, focus on infrastructure and care for poor has won them an unparalleled mandate. TRS in the next five years will make Telangana the number one state in education, healthcare and urban development. Infrastructure will improve further. Aerospace and defence, medical electronics will all get clusters to accelerate growth. The focus will be on graduating better talent which is the key to success.
— B.V.R. Mohan Reddy,
former Chairman, NASSCOM

‘Focus on infrastructure won TRS the election’
TRS is doing very well under the leadership of KCR garu and KTR garu. The major reason (for the win) is the government’s focus on development of infrastructure. Hyderabad is witnessing a real estate boom since 2014. In fact projects like Kaleswaram project, Water Grid and Mission Kakatiya are now being followed by other states. Even the Metro project was done in record time.
— Mahesh Reddy,
chairman and MD of AMR India Limited

‘City requires more cultural spaces’
The city has a very vibrant art and culture environment but the one point where it is lacking is excellent venues to perform. Apart from Ravindra Bharati, which is itself not in a good shape, Hyderabad doesn’t have many venues where art and culture can thrive. To build and maintain good performing spaces, huge funds are required and the government can build such infrastructure. Even though we have Shilpakala Vedika, it is huge and expensive to be booked by every artist. More affordable centres for culture in the city will put Hyderabad on a different league when compared to other Indian cities

Kuchipudi exponent

‘Real estate reforms will boost investment and build industry’
It is imperative that the reforms brought into the real estate sector brought in by the erstwhile government in the Telangana State are to be continued. The policies with regards to roads and buildings, infrastructure, amalgamations of several roadways into the ring road, etc. will be uninterrupted and go on. Since there will be a political stability in the state, these reforms will encourage various investors to come forward in building the industry. If the business flourishes, naturally, there will be more revenue for the state.
— R.K. Rao, General Secretary, CREDAI Hyderabad

‘Tourism, hospitality industry needs more support and boost’
I am very happy with TRS winning because they have done a good job in the last five years and it is a well deserved victory. However, we do need better internal roads and our tourism industry needs a boost. If you look all over India, Hyderabad still has very few good hotel rooms, so we need more support for our hotels so that more tourists are attracted to this place. We also need support because we have the lowest rooms rates in the whole country.
— Suryaveer Singh, Hotelier

‘Government should come forward to help the artists’
It is a great thing that TRS won. This government has always been supportive of artists and will help them in the future as well. However, artists need centres where they can work, as well as have a get together. While we have galleries, these centres should host workshops-not only from local artists, but also international — which will ensure that there is constant exchange of ideas and work of artists. This will make the art and culture scene of Hyderabad more happening.

‘Invest in art and culture’
Now that TRS has come to power again, they should focus on making the city cleaner and make provisions for maintaining and building more open spaces like parks. I would like the government to invest more time and money towards the development of art and culture.
— Saurabh Gharipurikar, Theatre personality

T-Wood is delighted
Many Tollywood personalities tweeted to KTR, congratulating him on the phenomenal victory of TRS. Interestingly, KTR changed his profile picture on Monday night. His new DP shows him pointing a gun, most probably towards his enemies!
