Corporate health care expert and well-known socialite Dr. Manoj Beno was in the midst of a controversy a couple of days back, as police interrogated him after intercepting his car and found a plastic bag containing small packets of marijuana tied outside his car. He was given a clean-chit immediately by the police after a formal check up, but Manoj feels that he has been ‘framed’ and ‘is shocked’ by the whole incident.
He narrates the issue — “A couple of days ago, I was questioned by cops near Adyar signal, and they said they wanted to check my car. I took it very lightly. But to my shock, I found out that someone had tied a plastic cover with a few packets of marijuana to the back of my SUV, to the spare tyre that was outside the car — and then tipped off the police about this. It was ‘tied’ with a rubber band on the outside of my car, and not even kept inside it. I clarified my stance to the cops and I was let go. I am quite popular in town and many people trust me to be a doctor who is available to everyone even at late hours. I don’t think I have any enemies, but the cops are looking into the issue as to which miscreant can be behind this.”
Manoj says that ever since the incident, he has been really feeling insecure. “Attempting to frame a person seems to be so simple and easy. Now I constantly check my car to make sure this doesn’t happen again. And I propose to get CCTV cameras installed at home,” he quips.
