Too late to say sorry?
The frenzy caused by Justin Bieber’s concert in Mumbai was palpable. The concert started off with opening acts by Indian artists DJ Sartek, followed by DJ Zaeden. However, the star attraction was Bieber, who — clad in a white T-shirt and black shorts, appeared on the LED-studded stage only around 8.15 pm. The fans went wild when Justin said, “You guys are the coolest. Hope you are ready to have the best night. The sun shines differently here. Thank you so much for having me.”
Wannabe celebs?
Justin Beiber’s fan base has always been pre-teens, teens and youngsters in their early 20s. Though one would argue that music is subjective, spotting someone like an Amar Singh, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Sridevi and husband Boney Kapoor, Shweta Bachchan among others swaying to the song Baby, did raise several eyebrows. After all, Bieber’s music caters to a much younger audience. But our B’wood stars sure love the attention they get from attending such duos. It didn't matter that Bipasha Basu and her husband left the venue within no time, but they did register their attendance at the do. How about letting kids have fun and not stealing their joy, B’wood?
Chaos at the Concert
The concert turned out to be a letdown on many accounts, especially from the management. Celebs and regular people alike complained that the arrangements weren’t up to scratch, as is evident from Sonali Bendre’s tweet who attended the concert with her son, Ranveer: “Biebered out!!! #wasteoftime.”
Bipasha and Karan were keyed up about attending the concert but thanks to the ticket-less fans gathered to get a glimpse of celebrities, the two had to make a hasty retreat soon after. Bipasha was heard as saying, “Honestly, it’s fab for the people but it’s a little too crowded for us and difficult to stand there. We didn’t get security so we are leaving.”
Not just the celeb lounge, attendees in other enclosures found a gripe with things ranging from overpriced water bottles (1 litre bottle being sold for Rs 150 to Rs 200) to haphazard barricading. Take Mumbai-resident Vipul Patel, for instance, who bought tickets for Rs 36,000. “Things were mismanaged. I was stuck in a different enclosure from my family and there was no entry to cross over. We were promised a separate barricaded area close to the stage but there was no such thing.” Patel complains that People from the Gold Lounge jumped into the Platinum Lounge and there was no one to stop them.
We also hear that Bieber was supposed to stay back for a lavish afterparty with the organisers and the rest of the crew, with Jacqueline Fernandez as its host, but the pop star decided to exit the stadium right after his performance. And that left the actress really upset, who had flown down all the way from London just for the gig.
Did Bieber lip-sync?
Fans at the concert were upset because they spent so much to see Justin lip-sync to his songs. “ If you're going 2 lip sync, atleast attempt 2 sync your lips,” wrote an angry fan on Twitter. “Came down from Goa just to see @justinbieber play his songs off YouTube. Couldn’t even get the lip sync right,” added another.
