The charity food fest beginning in Technopark today will raise funds for the education and summer camp of children of persons under palliative care
If you are looking for one happening place in capital city’s IT Hub, Bhavani atrium is undoubtedly a choice. Be it for conducting an exhibition, blood donation camp, or spreading colourful floral carpets, this breezy expanse plays a venue. The sprawling space is all set to host another auspicious occasion from morning to noon on Thursday by sporting steamy cauldrons, delectable eats— smelling sweet, spicy and everything nice. A charity food fest, organised by Pallium India, in association with Prathidhwani, the socio-cultural techie wing, is being held with two bigger aims — to raise educational funds for the children of patients under palliative care and to facilitate the summer camp Kuttikoottam for children this vacation.
A charity food fest is not a first in Technopark, but something of its kind to reach out to their families has never happened before. “All those patients are completely bed-ridden. A team of Pallium India health professionals, including a doctor, pays them a visit once in a month, during which they’d be guided on the type of care to follow in addition to caretaking tips. Their children, studying in classes from VIII to plus-II will be part of the summer camp,” says Rajeev Krishnan, secretary of Prathidhwani.
The food fest will have snacks, juice, meals and pickles prepared by the volunteers of Pallium India. Techies would be the customers of the day. The summer camp would be held in the city centre of Mithranikethan for three days. “The summer camp is conducted by Pallium India. Either it would arrange transportation facility for the children or the family members would bring them in,” adds Rajeev.
Food fests are one of the most popular fund-raiser charitable events happening in Technopark, helmed by the companies functioning there. Prathidhwani also offers scholarship for meritorious students who score good grades in their class X examination.
