It’s safe to say that the Comic Con is a much-anticipated event here in Bengaluru and this year’s buzz has already begun. Fans will witness the biggest cos-play contest, get their hands on tons of comic merchandise – as always, attend book launches, explore the gaming zone and even meet personalities like Joe Harris, the author of the X Files comic series.

“We have been working very hard with our partners and exhibitors to not just bring the best in comics, merchandise and more but to make it about the fan experiences, from a Rogue One-Star Wars zone, to a wand-training zone from Fantastic Beasts, a Breaking Bad corner by AXN, and a massive art and gaming installation that is the first ever ESL gaming premiership. I can pretty much say it will be your best weekend of the year!” said Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India.

The show this year will also see the biggest artist alley yet, he adds, with some of the best creators in the country, along with a great line up of International artists and writers. Todd Nauck, a well-known artist of the comic book industry credited with bringing to life characters such as Amazing Spider-Man, Teen Titans Go, Nightcrawler and Deadpool, Joe Harris, the pen behind cult comics like X Files, Spider-Man spinoff, Slingers and the Bishop: The Last X-Man series, and Jim Demonakos, a New York Times bestselling author famous for his work including The Silence of Our Friends and Shrapnel: Aristeia Rising amongst others, are the special guests who will meet and greet fans at the event.

Nauck, Harris and Demonakos, who gave DC email interviews, are clearly excited to be here. “I don’t know what to expect, but I hope to meet great people, see some wonderful sights and try some new foods! My experiences with international travel have taught me how much fun it is to learn about a new culture. It’s great to be at Comic Con too, because despite living on opposites of the world, comic books give people an instant connect – our shared love of superheroes and comic fandom!

Harris, the author of the X Files comic series echoes the sentiment and hopes to share his love for the culture with his Indian fans. “I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans. It's my favorite part of traveling to comics and pop culture conventions. There is a universal love of pop culture and geekdom that I sense all over the world. It transcends language, culture and experience.”

Jim Demonakos, who is the third pea in the pod, says that he for one is really looking forward to the meet and greet. “I’m excited to speak to the fans and find out how they are consuming both their domestic and also international pop culture, whether it’s movies, television and, of course, comic books!”
