Video: Woman cries after hearing teddy that holds recording of late husband's voice
The heart-touching moment when an 83-year-old grandmother couldn’t hold back her tears after she was given a teddy that contained a recording of her dead husband’s voice has been captured by her granddaughter on video. Jean Walters, who suffers from dementia, was overwhelmed with emotion when she squeezed the bear and heard the voice of her beloved husband, Denis, who had succumbed to lung cancer eleven years ago.
The recording, which was made before Denis died, said: ‘You’re the best girl in the world for me’, which was something that he often used to write in letters to Jean during his stint in the army. Aware of the deep love that Jean had for Denis – they had been married for more than 50 years – their granddaughter decided to record on video Jean’s adorable reaction at receiving her precious teddy again.
The bear was first gifted to Jean by her granddaughter, Abbie Webb, in 2005 but the toy soon wore out and the recording of Denis’ voice stopped working altogether. Unable to see Jean hurting over not being able to listen to her husband’s voice again, Abbie searched online for a company who could help fix it and was lucky enough to find one who could do the work for free. She reveals that she and her family had not expected Jean to be so overjoyed after hearing her husband’s voice again. Abbie told the Metro.uk, “It has helped her through so much. She listens to the recording every day, in the mornings.”
