Boy donates hair to cancer patients; later diagnosed with cancer
Vinny Desautels endured teasing from other kids for two years, so that he could grow his hair long and donate it to a cancer charity Wigs for Kids with Cancer. During that period he was often called a girl but he stuck to his guns because he wanted to contribute to a good cause, his mother says. But now, in a tragic twist of fate, the little boy has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
It all began when Vinny’s parents discovered a lump on his hip when he was getting ready to shower and immediately took him to the emergency room. Over there doctors identified a large growth on his iliac bone. It was also suspected that a swelling in his eye, which was earlier believed to be caused by an allergy, could be an aggressive malignant tumour.
Although doctors are currently unable to diagnose exactly what type of cancer Vinny has, they are of the opinion that the two growths could be possibly linked. His family has now set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money for the kid’s treatment.
