Q What made you buy the Mallya property?
I guess it was just one of those things that was destined to be.
Q Did you set your eyes on it since long?
When I was young, I went to a party at Vijay Mallya’s villa — the same one that I now own. I fell in love with it and I was convinced that if I ever build or buy my own house, it will be like the one that Mallya owned. When I got the opportunity, I worked on the process of acquiring it. I’ve finally got it now.
Q Did you have a difficult time processing the deal?
Let’s just say it wasn’t easy. But, I succeeded. Now that I’ve acquired the property that I so longed to own, I am exploring the options of what I should do with it.
Q Do you intend to occupy it yourself?
Yes. I will be using it personally for me and my family as a residence. But, I will take my time to see what I can do with the property in terms of renovation and modification.
Q How much did you actually pay for the property?
Well, Rs 73 crore was the last price at which it was auctioned. But that failed. I then got it for Rs 73.01 crore.
Q What are your plans in the film industry?
I have two releases coming up. One is the Hindi-Telugu bilingual, Secret, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The other is a Telugu film, Veedevadu. There are a lot of exciting things happening in the coming year.
