Police personnel in India have been facing a lot of criticism for a long time, either for the pitiful law and order situation of the country or for police brutalities. As a result of this, the image that comes to mind when someone thinks of a cop is that of a lathi wielding and corrupt policeman.
But there are several dedicated personnel who are doing their bit to change this perception, and one of them is a traffic cop from Haryana who will make lazy and corrupt personnel seem like a bollywood cliché.
Rakesh Kumar from Sonipat caught the attention of a social media user, since he was performing his duty barefoot. When the user named Raahul Sharma inquired further, he found Kumar could not afford another pair of shoes and so he took off his shoes in the rain to wear them the next day.
The city was being lashed by heavy rains and while most people would avoid work on such days, Rakesh Kumar chose to stand on the road under the downpour and make sure the traffic was smooth in such a situation.
Although policemen are trained to battle adverse conditions in the line of their duty, such commitment is rarely seen. People who saw Kumar also noticed that he wasn’t frustrated about doing his duty in such conditions.
