KOZHIKODE: D. Jeevarajan, a security staff of a private hospital here, boasts of a rare feat — a collection of human interest stories appeared in newspapers for the past 27 years. He has also named his five-year-old house as Kauthukam (curiosity). Not just these clippings, the 50-year-old Poovattuparamba native also possesses a bunch of around 750 written replies, including 50 postcards, from high profile people.
He proudly claims he belongs to the people who still believe in writing conventional letters to communicate instead of electronic methods. He has around 50 albums of interesting reports appeared in newspapers and is excited about his upcoming exhibition of these clippings in the city and Tirur.
"Every day we see some interesting stories, but their life ends the next morning," he said. His collections include the hen that lays blue eggs, parrot drinking alcohol, piercing large size swords into the tongue and the pathetic state of victims of endosulfan — all appeared two decades ago.
At the same time, his extensive collection of letters those from ONV Kurup, Sugathakumari, P.T. Usha, Sree Kumaran Thampi, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, M. Mukundan, former chief minister Oommen Chandy and Zamorin Raja of Kozhikode.
