‘Marvel’ous creations!

The trailer of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which released recently, has generated a huge buzz online.

Avenger Endgame was the end of an era and fans are still recovering from the emotional losses of the blockbuster film. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has yet a lot to offer and the new trailer for Spider-Man:Far From Home which released on May 7 has really stirred things up for the future of the MCU. The new Spider-Man movie will be the last Marvel movie this year and thus has a lot of expectations going for it.

The upcoming movie which will be released in India on July 5 brings to the fans a bunch of possibilities for the future of the MCU. The second trailer of the film reveals that the movie follows up after Avengers Endgame as we get to see in the trailer a mural that has been dedicated to Iron man. With Avengers such as Thor and Captain Marvel missing, Peter Parker played by Tom Holland tries to fill in the shoes of his mentor Tony Stark. One of the major events that we have seen through the trailer is the introduction of Quentin Beck aka Mysterio, one of the Spider-Man’s arch enemies, who has a large fan following. However, the trailer itself doesn’t reveal whether Mysterio who is played by Jake Gyllenhall has a positive or negative role. Akul Bhatia a student at Rutgers University and an enthusiast of the MCU said, “Mysterio will most probably be a villain as it fits his character by first being deceptive in the start and turning out to be a villain later on.”

The trailer also introduces the Elementals- Hydron, Magnum, Hellfire and Zephyr. The characters can control water, earth, fire and wind respectively. Spider-Man and Mysterio in the trailer can be seen taking on at least three of them. On the other hand, these elementals could also be illusions set up by Mysterio to keep Spider-Man and Nick Fury off his back. Akash Pati is a student of game design in CMR University, he has read several comic books of the same franchise and claims, “Mysterio has definitely used the elementals as a distraction. They’ve given him more motives and detail.” The trailer and a behind the scenes look by Tom Holland reveal that the characters Hydro man and Molten man will also have a role to play in the movie.

The deal breaker of this movie, however, is the introduction of the multi-verse. In the trailer, we see that Nick Fury has sought Spider-Man so that he along with Mysterio could fight all the villains that have descended upon the Earth from another universe. We get to see this in a dialogue by Nick Fury within the trailer itself, “Beck is from Earth, just not ours. The Snap tore a hole in our dimension”. This is an indication that Spider-Man: Far From Home commences the third phase of the MCU. From the fourth phase onwards hopefully, characters from parallel universes will also be introduced, Remith Menon a student from PES University said, “This movie plays a huge role in the MCU as it offers fans the multi-verse and a wide range of characters that come with it. The 4th phase is highly anticipated as the X-Men will now be introduced through the MCU.”

After the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home the next time we will see the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be next year with a standalone movie of Black Widow followed by a sequel to Doctor Strange.
