A divine experience

The two-and-a-half hour play portrayed selected momentous excerpts of his life in four stages.

The prominent event production company, SS International Live, which has completed over 100 successful events till date, came up with an intriguing show, Dheivathul Dheivam, based on the life history of Sri. Kanchi Maha Periyavaa. It debuted on the theatrical scene this month.

When asked about this initiative, Elango Kumanan, one of the directors of SS International Live, who also directed Dheivathul Dheivam, says “We as directors were keen on producing a show that can match or surpass the humongous expectation created by our previous dramas. We were in search of a theme that can get connected to the emotions of people. The goal was to give the audience the best and most meaningful experience they can possibly have,” he states, and adds, “In this age of technology, we agree that the basic human interaction has gone missing. Hideousness, selfishness, immorality etc., have taken the front stage leaving behind the human aspect of our basic nature. While pondering over this line, the questions we asked ourselves was ‘whose life history can motivate, inspire and have an emotional connect with the audiences?’ As the audience left the auditorium, our play created an impact in their personal lives.”

Speaking about how they zeroed in on the idea of telling the life history of Sri. Kanchi Maha Periyavaa, he explains, “Our thoughts travelled far and wild and with much satisfaction and confidence we mutually zeroed down in on bringing to light, the teachings, positive approach, and meekness of Kanchi Maha Periyvaa. His life apart from religion has been most inspiring and motivating to the people around him and this, we decided to depict through our stage play.”

The two-and-a-half hour play portrayed selected momentous excerpts of his life in four stages.
