Amazon, the popular online retailer, has angered customers after putting up racist and Islamophobic costumes for sale this Halloween. The Caucasian models shown wearing the costumes were even covered with dark face paint.
While male customers had the option of buying an ‘Arab’ tunic and headdress with a ‘Palestinian’ scarf, the ladies could try out the ‘sexy Saudi burka Islamic costume’ with a face veil. Many customers expressed their anger via comments on the website. One user gave a one-star rating and wrote: 'You're all disgusting racists. My culture is not your costume.' Another left the message: 'A person's culture is NOT a fancy dress costume.'
Amazon UK has removed the ‘sexy burka’ costume and issued a statement that said the product is ‘no longer available’, according to the Daily Mail.
