Mastering the art of grace
Invited by the Khwaaish Ladies Club in Hyderabad for a Grooming and Personality Development workshop, Nawaz can’t stop gushing about the city.
Immersed in memories of biriyani, Charminar, the Nizam life and the local bangle market, from her previous visits to the city, she says, “The people are so relaxed, hospitable and charming. Besides, you don’t find the crazy Mumbai rush here. The ladies of the club make my experience memorable and comfortable. They are trendsetters in what they do.”
The Body Art Personality Development programme covered fitness, nutritional guidance, skin, hair and make-up recommendations, dressing for an occasion, personality development, interpersonal communication skills, and dinning etiquettes for 14 participants aged between 18-24.
“A lot of things can be learnt here, if not directly, then through osmosis. Being around the right people helps inculcate the right etiquette and mannerisms. You learn what to say and more importantly, what not to say. You understand the importance of voice tones, volume, speed, and modulation,” explains Nawaz, who has been conducting grooming workshops across the globe.
Being in the field of fitness for so long, Nawaz realises that people look up to her for reasons other than fitness too.
“People had begun to see that age-related fine lines and wrinkles were missing on me, due to my holistic approach towards health and fitness,” she says.
“They often look at my overall lifestyle to see my various personalities — that of a fitness expert, of an artist, my corporate life with Raymonds, my personal life with Gautam (Singhania), the social life, the races, and being out there…everything. And I have been open to share the secrets with those who are willing to learn,” says Nawaz.
Her life is all about creativity, multitasking, training and and empowering people.
“On a private level, I am very casual and relaxed. I know I have to wear various caps, which I enjoy, but left to myself, I am private and I love the time to myself,” she says.
At the end of the two days’ intensive workshop, the youngsters were awarded a Certificate and a memento from Nawaz. She ended her journey to Hyderabad by indulging in some retail therapy at Laad Bazar.
