Doctors share photos of themselves asleep to highlight their crazy work schedules

Young doctors are often required to work shifts of up to 36 hours which results in many taking naps at the workplace.

When a blog post from earlier this month criticized a medical resident in Mexico for sleeping on the job, other doctors not only defended her but also started the #YoTambienMeDormi (which means #IAlsoFellAsleep) trend on social media in support of doctors’ need for rest during long hours.

Several medical professionals from Latin America began to use the hashtag while posting pictures of themselves sleeping on the job. Reportedly, young doctors are often required to work shifts of up to 36 hours which results in many taking naps at the workplace.

Doctors claim that the hashtag is also a way of highlighting the many sacrifices they’ve had to make for their profession which includes working on weekends and skipping meals. Here are some the photos that Latin American medical professionals posted on Twitter.
