Wayanad Splash'ing on monsoon carnival
KALPETTA: Elaborate preparations are on for the Business to Business meet organized in connection with ‘Splash’, the Wayanad Monsoon Carnival scheduled to be held here on Saturday. The tourism carnival that began on July 1 is underway with various programmes entertaining the visitors as well as local people. Organized by Wayanad Tourism Organisation (WTO) in association with the department of tourism and District Tourism Promotion Council, the ‘Business to Business Meet’ (B2B) is the most serious part of the 9-day carnival.
The meet provides a venue for property owners from hotel, resort and home-stay categories to showcase destinations as well as properties before hundreds of tourism agents and operators. WTO secretary CP Sailesh told DC that more than 450 delegates including travel agents, tour operators and travel writers had already registered for the programme. “Around 400 delegates have already arrived and the remaining are on the way”, he said. On the results of the popular mud football competitions, Mr Sailesh said that the Kerala state team had emerged champions in the national-level competitions held on Thursday.
Karnataka emerged runners-up. In the state-level competition, Kasargod district emerged champions while Wayanad was the runners-up. Various items including mud football, tug-of-war, 4X4 off-roading and mountain biking also have been organized in connection with the rain carnival in the coming days. Launched in 2009, this is the 8th edition of Splash and has proved to be a big hit in attracting rain lovers to the district.
