Brit climber becomes first cancer patient to climb Mount Everest summit

The doctors had given him only four months to live after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015

Cancer can crash many hopes and dreams and while most people give up, there are many that challenge fate to achieve their most desired wish. A man in UK became the first cancer patient to climb the highest peak in the world and people are left in awe about it.

Ian Toothill became the first cancer patient to conquer Mount Everest in an unbelievable act after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015, according to a report in The Guardian. The doctors had given him only four months to live and since climbing the highest peak in the world was always always his childhood dream; he decided to go ahead with it.

The 47-year-old is a personal trainer and with his climb has helped raise 31,500 pounds (Rs 26,18,122) for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity. Interestingly, a friend of his had also promised to donated 1,000 pounds if he completed the climb to the top.
