While many teenagers struggle to convey what they feel, five Class XII students of Oakridge International School— Vijitha Reddy, Bharathi B., Dhyan Sharma, Prakhya Gadde and Elizabeth Wissen — have found the perfect conduit. They just paint what they feel. The five will be displaying their artwork in an exhibition — Infinite Journey III. The themes of the exhibition are vast, but the basic idea behind them is simple — things that connect them to society.
Take for instance 18-year-old Elizabeth’s 11 artworks that are based on the “illusion of reality”. She says, “It was but natural for me to create that through art. A few of my art works have been inspired by Alice in Wonderland and even The Salem Witch Hunt.”
For Vijitha Reddy, her work is about freedom and what it means to different people. “Each of us has a different interpretation of what freedom means and I try to show that meaning,” says the 18-year-old who has always been inspired by “rebellious artists”.
Whether it is Dhyan Sharma’s abstract artwork, Bharathi’s representation of Indian mythology or Prakhya’s representation of the society, one thing is for sure, these five artists have a lot to offer.
