Maneka Gandhi's sexist statements spark outrage on Twitter
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has left many people shocked and infuriated by her recent comments during a TV interview about early curfews for women in hostels. She reportedly said that such restrictions were necessary to protect girls from their “own hormonal outbursts”.
“When you are 16 or 17 you are also hormonally very challenged. So to protect you from your own hormonal outbursts, perhaps a lakshman rekha is drawn. It really is for your own safety,” Gandhi was quoted as saying in the interview. Her remarks invited strong criticism from people on social media especially Twitter.

You know what would be safest? Lock hormonal men in, instead of denying women the right to lead a full life. https://t.co/ysCYc08bhB
