One person, many awards

Professor Chintakindi Sanjay recently won India's largest educational award for excellence in professional education.

Principal and Dean of the GITAM School of Technology, Professor Chintakindi Sanjay, added yet another feather to his cap as an educationist, recently. He was the recipient of the 25th Business School Affaire and Dewang Mehta National Education Leadership Award for the year 2016, in the category ‘Deemed University’. The award is considered to be India’s largest educational award for excellence in professional education, research, leadership, innovative methods of teaching and industry relevant curriculum.

Speaking of his achievement, he says, “I have received many awards, but it still feels nice when I get recognised. I feel like all my hard work has paid off. The award came in as a recognition to our unique teaching methods and leadership skills. I had never wanted to be a part of academics when I finished my BE in manufacturing engineering. Only after I did my ME-CAD/CAM, MBA (HRD) and while I was pursuing my PhD in manufacturing engineering, did the academic bug bite me. I’ve always strived to offer quality education to my students so they can adapt to the fast-changing world of technology.”

Professor Sanjay is also a certified Corporate Director of Word Council for Corporate Governance, UK, and also the recipient of several awards in academic and research fields from various organisations for his contribution in higher education. The prominent awards that he has pocketed so far are ‘Best Academic Administrator Award of SAARC Nations from Association of Scientists, Developers and Faculties (ASDF) ICCA’ in 2012 and ‘Research Excellence Award from Indo-Global Educational Summit’ in 2015.

He has also visited many South Asian countries for research and to present papers. “In my 25 years of experience in the education industry, the knowledge I have imbibed from others is immense. I have also worked abroad for four years as an associate professor of manufacturing engineering and management at the government universities in Malaysia and Singapore,” he informs. That’s not all — he has delivered key note addresses for 20 international and national conferences and has penned four books. Also, he has been a Member of Advisory and Technical Committee for 59 international conferences and has organised over 50 such conferences and workshops. “I have tried doing my bit in the field of education and even people from abroad have appreciated my efforts. I want my students, too, to taste success as I did,” he says.

Apart from being a leader in the education field, Sanjay is a diehard cricket fan. “Whenever I get free time, I play cricket with my friends and colleagues,” he adds.
