Saying adieu in style
It was an evening filled with laughter, dancing and a whole lot of fun. For the BBA, BCom and BA Mass Communication graduates of the 2018 batch of Roots Collegium, it was the moment they’d been waiting for since they started college life as freshers with stars in their eyes. Three years went flying by and before they knew it, the convocation ceremony was here. The proud students received their degrees at the grand event held at a well-known hotel in the city. Guests of honour Navin (Commissioner, Collegiate Education), Suresh Kumar (Vice-Chancellor, EFLU) and Suresh Reddy (MD, Lycos) added glamour to the event. BP Padala, Chairman of Roots Collegium, in his speech, encouraged the fresh graduates and inspired them to follow their passions and grow.
After the official duties of the ceremony were done and dusted, it was time to lighten things up. This is when the senior students stepped in and turned it into an energetic atmosphere with their variety of dances. There was a Tollywood dance that reflected the grace of Telugu cinema, followed by bhangra, salsa, belly dancing and some other exotic performances. But perhaps, the show stealer was a ramp walk by the seniors, dressed as outlandish characters from films. Dressed up as Padmavati and Khilji, Jafar and Jasmine, James Bond and Moneypenny, and so on, they set the ramp on fire. There was also a Bahubali dance drama that kept the crowds entertained.
To ensure an unforgettable event, the students left no stone unturned. Along with designer outfits and accessories, every little detail was given attention.
Once the programmes concluded, it was time for the fresher’s party. Over 1,000 students and their parents took part in the event. This was marked by a welcome dance and followed with many more dances, songs and even a ramp walk. It ended with a memorable flash mob. From the students to the teachers and even the non-teaching staff, everyone grooved to the music, contributing to the upbeat mood.
Taran Khan, artist and author; Ruchika Sharma, celebrity chef and Sufithan, model and actress, graced the event and gave away the prizes.
