Couple discovers bear cubs soaking in a hot tub

Three bear cubs were spotted enjoying a soak in a hot tub in a couple’s vacation home in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Raleigh: In an incident straight out of a fairytale, three bear cubs were found by a couple, relaxing in the hot tub of their holiday home, reported the LADBible.

Elizabeth Strickland and her partner were on a vacation to their home in the Great Smoky Mountains situated on the Tennessee-North Carolina border. They were on the porch of their house when they looked across to see the bear cubs playing in the water.

The area around the scenic tourist destination is well known for its bear population, but the bears rarely come outside when there are human around. Thus, it was a unique sight to see the bear cubs hanging around in the couple’s hot tub.

"I saw one walk around a corner of the porch, and I ran into the bedroom to look out the windows at the hot tub and there they were!" Elizabeth said. "It was so cute, so we let them enjoy for a minute. Then they went on their merry way," she added.

Despite their adorable and cuddly looks, bears should not be approached by humans. The National Park Service (NPS) has warned that bears are dangerous wild animals and that any interaction with the animal should be treated with extreme caution. "Wilfully approaching within 150 feet, or any distance that disturbs or displaces a bear, is illegal in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park," the NPS further notified.

Interestingly enough, this wasn't the first time that a bear has been found taking a soak in a hot tub. Last July, a resident of California, Mark Hough saw a bear in his hot tub when he was hanging around in his garden.
