Stoli launches gluten-free vodka
Gluten-intolerant folks finally have their prayers answered. Stoli has released a line of “one of a kind” gluten-free vodkas in the US, which is made from 88 per cent corn and 12 per cent buckwheat. While there maybe local bars that brew gluten-free vodka, this is the first time that a global brand has come up with a gluten-free version.
Vodkas are generally made from wheat, but there aren’t any scientific tests to verify the claim that gluten doesn’t survive the distillation process. Stoli vodka is distilled three times at the company’s Talvis distillery and then filtered four times through quartz sand and birchwood charcoal, before it is finally blended with spring water.
Patrick Piana, Stoli Group USA Chief Executive said, “The reality today is that gluten-free is a lifestyle that more and more consumers are engaging in. As more people are incorporating gluten-free options into their diets, we wanted to create a product that left no doubt to our consumers that the gluten-free label is indeed gluten-free.”
The gluten-free vodka is currently available in the US in 50ml, 750ml and 1-litre bottles.
