Here are Tinder's dating tips for the new year
It is always during the first few weeks of the new year that people reflect most on the year that has gone by and begin establishing a new set of resolutions. For many, this includes meeting new people or tending to one’s love life.
Tinder has shared some pro tips, that will help you create a quality profile and land those all-important right swipes.
Below are 6 quick tips from the pros at Tinder:
Don’t leave your bio blank: You look great, but hey, your potential partner also wants to know a little bit about your personality before they swipe. A short and unique bio will help to capture their attention.
“Remember, first impressions matter. Your bio could be that window which allows you to tell someone what you are looking for. It can also be a conversation starter, wherein your wordplay could present not just a witty, but an intelligent side to you.
Couple it with mention of your skills and already your potential match would want to know more!” said Mumbai based clinical psychologist Sonali Gupta.
Smile: No matter how cool you think that pout makes you look, trust us, it's not making your profile look any better. Smiling is proven to increase your right swipes by 14 per cent.
Also, ditch the sunnies. They have the potential to reduce your right swipes by 12 per cent. According to Sonali, “Sunglasses give you a veil to hide behind and it instantly disconnects you from the person looking at your picture. A picture without them allows a potential match to look at your eyes and facial contours.”
Wear something bright: Stand out… be a pop of color in a world full of beige.
Turn on Smart Photos: Can’t decide which of your pictures you like the best? Let Smart Photos do it for you. The feature will show your most popular pictures first, to help you increase matches. Bring on those right swipes!
Keep it social: Link your Instagram to your profile so potential matches can get to know you better. This will help to give your matches a peek into your life, and keep your profile fresh.
Say no to lazy Sundays: Swiping is on an all-time high on Sunday afternoon, it's when the community is most active! So, put on your most comfortable PJ’s and start swiping. “On Sunday we are more likely to give ourselves the permission to not do any chores, and just see this as rest day, before Monday blues start again. So, after you have caught up on your sleep, Sunday may actually be a time where you have more bandwidth, energy and time to invest in meeting new people,” said Sonali.
Use GIFs to spark clever conversations: When you don’t know what to say, send a GIF instead. You are 30% more likely to get a reply.
Be authentic and respectful: Above all, keep it positive and be real and honest. It is obvious when you are trying to fake it.
It’s time to revamp that profile and make the most out of 2018!
