A mother rat managed to save her baby after ferociously fighting a snake that was attempting to slither away with the youngling. The startling incident was captured on video by Rojas Montecinos Envy and uploaded on Facebook along with the caption: “Today while I was returning home, I witnessed this amazing act of love from a mother.”
The 20-second-long clip shows the mother rat biting and scratching the snake until the reptile was compelled to drop the baby from its jaws. Even after that the rat chased the snake till it escaped into the bushes.
In the end, the protective mother rat returned to her baby, scooped it into her jaws and scurried away. It is not known whether the baby rat survived the attack.
