Video: Lion pounces at two-year-old boy in Japanese zoo
This video has recently gone viral all over the Internet. The clip shows a astonishing moment, where a lion pounced at a young child. However, the lion slammed his head into the enclosure’s screen.
The footage shows the big cat lunging after the two-year-old just seconds after he turned his back.
According to the reports, the lion can run at the speeds of up to 50mph. The video shows the animal taking his position and as soon as the kid wearing yellow jacket looked away, the lion took the opportunity and charged towards the kid in full force.
The cat weighs 181 kg. The keeper stated that this wasn’t an act of aggression and lion usually pounces at kids because he wants to play with them.
"Lions are natural wild predators and the child in this video, especially when turning his back to the massive feline, becomes prey in the animal's eyes. But luckily for the family, if the barrier had not held the consequences could have been catastrophic," Lion expert Adam Roberts, chief executive of Born Free USA, told The Dodo
