Taking cinema seriously

The workshop will be followed by an AV presentation capturing mainstream cinema's indulgence with various issues discussed.

The two biggest crazes in the country are sports, specifically cricket, and films. Come any Friday and the Internet is flooded with review after review — some honest, some not so. So, how does one rate a film? Are there parameters to do so? Yes, there are, and here is an opportunity for a true film buff. Mamangam is conducting a film appreciation workshop by Parthan Mohan, film director and producer, on ‘how to watch movies’.

The workshop will concentrate on six core areas – casteism, sexism, colour politics, homophobia, patriarchy and age. The workshop is mainly for people in the age group 18 and above.

The workshop will be followed by an AV presentation capturing mainstream cinema’s indulgence with various issues discussed. The one-day workshop will be held on February 23, Sunday, from 4 pm to 6 pm.
