Meghan Markle makes this wish every birthday, it's inspired by mum Doria Ragland

Meghan Markle is celebrating her birthday as a royal for the first time.

While there will be many things that will definitely change for her this birthday, one thing, according to reports, will remain the same, her birthday wish.

Each year Meghan uses the time to reflect on her life and think about her future, a tradition that sources say is inspired by her mum Doria Ragland, The Sun report says.

Meghan had revealed the habit in 2016 in her now deleted lifestyle website The Tig where she had written, “My mom has always said that birthdays are your own personal New Year.”

The Duchess of Sussex when on to write that she wishes for ‘more surprises’, ‘more opportunities to grow’, ‘filled with giggles and cheeky jokes, more delicious meals, and more inspiration. Always more inspiration.”

This year Meghan's big day has a special significance for someone else too.

While The Duchess of Sussex is set to mark her 37th birthday this Saturday, August 4, it's an important day for the entire royal family - especially the Queen.

The Queen Mother, Elizabeth, was also born on the same date, in 1900.

Last year, Meghan spent her 36th birthday on an African safari with Prince Harry.
