Denmark-based firm to install new rides in Napier Museum
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The children’s park within the Napier Museum premises in the city is all set to undergo renovation. The directorate of museum and zoos has decided to give a face-lift to the park aiming to attract more crowds by providing better facilities.
Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE), a holding company under the department of industries, is in charge of the work which is estimated to cost Rs 2.6 crore. More area will be acquired towards the sides to allocate almost 15 new rides. The old swings, merry-go-round, and slider will be renovated while rides such as water-lily balance, multi-spinner and multi-seesaw are on the list of new ones.
The new rides will be installed with the help of a Denmark-based firm. A new waiting shelter for parents is also under construction. “The government will decide whether to fix an entry fee to the park,” said K. Gangadharan, director of museum and zoos, not completely ruling out the possibility of entry ticket. As of now the entry to the park is free. The renovated park would be open to the public by July. Even though the renovation had started two months back, the park is partly open to the public at the moment.
