Celebrating 'World Autism Day'
On Sunday evening, Lamakaan turned blue as the students of Aarambh Association for Autism, came together to celebrate World Autism Day. The chief guests of the event that kicked off with a fashion show by the students, were actor Sunil and anchor Jhansi.
The audience hooted and cheered as the children did yoga asanas, made paper crafts, played piano and sang on the stage. Many parents accompanied their kids on the stage.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Sunil said, “These kids are dedicated and meticulous. We should encourage them. I’m honoured to be a part of this event.”
Many schools in the city don’t accept autistic kids, leaving parents no choice but to keep them at home. Speaking about the same, Jyothi Verma, mother of seven-year-old Ishita, says, “We faced several issues at the schools that Ishita went to earlier. They couldn't understand the need for extra care that autistic kids need. After she joined Aarambh, there is considerable improvement in her.”
The founder, Sharadda Ram, started the school back in 2007, as she couldn’t find the right school for her daughter Sindhu, who’s autistic.
