Bengaluru: Founded in 1967, the Shri Manjunatha Vidyalaya in Vidyaranyanagar on Magadi Road is well known for its programmes aimed at all round development of its students.
Its founder , JS Nagaraju began the instituition with a small group of 10 children who were taught in the Kannada medium. But within a short time the school gained in reputation in the locality and introduced English medium on popular demand. With over 1,400 students today, it has come a long way since its small beginning.
Many of its students have gone on to become doctors, engineers, political leaders,and IAS officers, besides mayors, much to its pride.
“A good education and good teachers are pillars of society who mould the citizens of tomorrow,” says Mr Nagaraju, who is its principal as well as founder. Dedicated to promoting sound educational values, he was a teacher for over four decades and has succeeded in making the institution a household name in the area.

Interestingly, the school does not charge a heavy fee or make demands for donations. But its emphasis on quality education sees it get excellent results in state board examination every year. The institution takes pride in encouraging and motivating students to excel and contribute to the nation, say its teachers.
The school has a good team in place with high school headmaster, N Raghu, headmistress of the primary school, Varalakshmi and experienced teachers, S Renuka Prabha, B S Parvathamma, U Umesh, and M Y Krishnaveni contributing to its growing reputation.
Its modern facilities, emphasis on moral values and practical learning using playful methods have given it an edge as well. The students are encouraged to participate in general knowledge competitons and also appear for the Sri Krishna Examination, Vachana Kammata (Vachana discourse), Hindi examination, Gandhi examination, Prathibha Karanji and so on. Sports and physical exercise are a part of the curriculum as well.
