When NY Mayor Bill de Blasio invited the Indian community for Diwali, Indian girl Kavitha Das wore a chiffon saree and tiptoed towards the De Blasio mansion, looking resplendent! The serious-minded Bengaluru dentist is doing her bit for world health and has been getting kudos in New York for her developmental work. The Indiranagar girl Kavitha recently posted some gorgeous Diwali pictures from her Diwali celebrations at the Mayor’s home! “Diwali at New York City Mayor’s Gracie Mansion with Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray!” she posted. We asked her about it, and from the Big Apple, Ms Das who was at the Gracie Mansion with many known faces said, “The first lady wished everyone Happy Diwali and she even told all of us, ‘This is your house and you are always welcome here.’ I live seven blocks away from the mayor’s mansion — so I walked in a chiffon sari to the mayor’s house. With my charitable work with NYC NGOs, I was at the mayor’s Diwali celebrations as part of the work I do,” she chirped. The girl has been clicked earlier with former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Gloria Steinem at the Ban Ki Moon Women’s Empowerment Award which Kavitha helped set up with NYC NGO Asia Initiatives (www.asiainitiatives.org)!” Clearly, Miss Das is going places, and with a charitable heart too!
