As the semesters come to an end and exams start for college going youngsters in the city, some of them had to bid adieu to their college lives. So, the colleges in the city and the juniors did their best to make their seniors feel loved and something they could remember by as they look back to their college days.
We get insights from one of the most prestigious colleges in the city. Christ University had their department wise farewell as usual and then had one with the entire college together. Speaking to Jennifer Hiramanek from the BCA department at Christ who says, “We wanted our seniors feel special not just for two or three hours but wanted them to feel special for the entire day, which is why we booked the whole day for their farewell activities.
As soon as they came we got them a cake and left it in the class just so that they know that this is beginning. Later, in the evening we had 10 seniors come up on stage. Then they had two minutes where the girls had to drape a saree on the guy and the guys had to do the girls makeup, we also had other interesting games later. To remember the farewell we gifted them silicon bands with “Christite BCA 2k15-18” written on it and had a few funny awards for a few of them where we gave them a memento. The evening ended with some music and a selfie booth.”
While at this business college things were taken at a different level. Mohit Chaturvedi, an MBA student at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management shares the experiences from their Farewell called Reminiscence and says, “Reminiscence provide us, the juniors an opportunity to give back to the ones who’ve been the guiding light for us throughout the year. It may seem funny but it all starts with painting 50 coconuts for “Na-Real” awards. Amidst the positive environment, each committee prepares a performance to thank their senior members. A video is prepared to showcase the entire journey of two long years 200 odd strangers took up who ended up being a family. While the seniors look dapper in Business formals and sarees, the organising team wear traditional attires. It’s a circle, we did efforts to make some people happy, next year the coming lot would do the same to make us happy, and so it’s all worth it in the end.”
While the seniors felt overwhelmed by the gestures and the show that that the juniors had put together to make their farewell worthwhile. Lydia Johnson, an MSW student at St. Josephs tells us that, “Graduation/Farewell is that time of the year when you look back and realise that it’s coming to an end. The juniors and our teachers definitely made it memorable. They walked us down memory lane.
The juniors had a small game in which we had to pick a chit and mention one thing we will miss about that person. It then started to hit that we will not be together as a class. They sang few songs on friendship and had a dance performance. The faculty of our department had different things to say for the outgoing class.”
