IAS officers spend just Rs. 500 on wedding, resume duty in 48 hours

They seem to have broken all social conventions!

Weddings in India are known to be quite lavish affairs that require several weeks of preparation. And of course, there are always post-wedding celebrations and the honeymoon that take up the time of newly married couples. Two IAS officers have rejected such social conventions by not only spending just Rs.500 on their wedding but also returning to work after barely two days.

Vijayawada sub-collector Dr Saloni Sidana married Ashish Vashishta, an Indian Administrative Service officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, on Monday. They had a simple civil marriage and paid a court fee of Rs 500 at the office of Bhind additional district magistrate.

The pair had fallen in love while undergoing training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussorie, according to reports.
