Ezhuthachan Award goes to C Radhakrishnan

Apart from several works of fiction, he has also written eight collections of short stories.

Kochi: Law and Culture Minister A.K. Balan on Tuesday came to the house of C. Radhakrishnan to announce the decision of the state government to select him for this year’s Ezhuthachan Award. Mr Balan, who reached his home at Azad Road accompanied by Kerala Sahitya Akademi president and writer Vaishakhan and others, was received by Radhakrishnan and his wife. He has been selected for the highest literary award of the state government for his comprehensive contribution to Malayalam literature.

Radhakrishnan, 77, a prolific writer, who was born at Chamravattom in Malappuram district, has been a recipient of several awards, including the Kendra Sahitya Akademi and Kerala Sahitya Akademi prizes. A post-graduate in physics, he started his career as a scientist at the Astrophysical Observatory at Kodaikkanal before becoming a science journalist. Apart from several works of fiction, he has also written eight collections of short stories. He has written the scripts and directed four films - Agni, Kanalattom, Pushyaragam and Ottayadipathakal.
