Dangerous Dance Moves!

The #Kiki challenge may be the latest Internet craze, but officials warn that it will be dealt with sternly.

The global #Kiki challenge has been taken up by many youngsters across the world. The challenge involves dancing to Drake’s song In My Feelings by getting out of a slow moving car, dancing while the car is moving forward and then getting back in. No matter how adventurous it sounds, it is equally horrifying.

It all started when Shiggy, a comedian posted a video of himself dancing to the song on the road; however, it did not include him jumping out of the car. Since then, celebrities like Saniya Iyyappan, Adah Sharma, Nia Sharma, Regina Cassandra, Will Smith, Karishma Sharma, Nora Fatehi and Varun Sharma have all followed in his footsteps.

Naga Shetty, a dance choreographer from the city who did the #Kiki challenge, feels that it is very creative. He shares, “It was great fun; however, I did it early in the morning near the Shameerpet Lake and made sure they were no vehicles and crowds there.” He adds, “It’s dangerous if we do it on the main road.”

Meanwhile, a few people took the challenge as it was trending on the Internet. Sneha Saraya, a student says, “It seemed fun when I first saw it and as a dancer, it was something new to look at, so I gave it a try. It is a little dangerous but if proper precautions and presence of mind are used, it is more like an adventure and a lot of fun. I did it with complete road safety.” Thakur Vinith Singh, a dancer and owner of an ice cream company believes that the feeling of dancing outside the car while leaving the door open is something new.

District Transport Officer, Medchal, Sreenivaas Puppalla warns, “This is a very dangerous challenge for the person doing it as well as for others. If we find someone doing this, we will directly hand them over to the police and seize the car as well. Celebrities should think about their social responsibility and not promote this. They too will be booked if they are seen doing it.”
