Beautiful dreams
“Why should marriage stop any woman from achieving her dreams? Marriage should in fact, strengthen you,” says a very confident Swetha Ravuri, one of the finalists of the Mrs India Worldwide contest, organised by Haut Monde. Nearly 60 women auditioned for the title, of which only 30 made it to the final round.
Many women don’t follow their passion after marriage, especially after having kids, but for Swetha, her family is her support system. The 33-year-old says, “I remember watching Sushmita Sen win the Miss Universe title in 1994, and since then, I too wanted to be a beauty queen. However, I got married in the final year of my college, post which I had two kids. But, that didn’t keep me away from dreaming big. I have an amazing family and they encourage me to do all that I want to,” says Swetha, adding that her husband and Tollywood actor Ajay is very supportive too.
Swetha will be travelling to Vietnam soon for a few rounds, after which the finals will be held in August at Delhi. Talking about how she is preparing herself for the competition, Swetha says, “Soon after I submitted my form, I hit the gym. I think if you are determined enough, nothing is too hard. I am also taking extra care of my skin and learning a few new make-up techniques that will help me out.”
Whether or not she wins the title, Swetha says that she would like to do something for orphan kids. “I want to be an inspiration to others and do something for the society. I want to start a foundation for orphan kids and provide them with shelter, food and education,” Swetha adds.
